Worship in the Woods!

A mid-summer, all-church worship service will be held on Sunday, July 10, at 10:30 AM at Grace Park in the east mountains, followed by a "hot dog" picnic. There will also be one worship service here at St. John's that morning at 10:30 AM for those that can’t make it to Grace Park.

People are encouraged to come with friends as parking is limited. A bus will be provided if there is enough interest. Come by the Hospitality Center to sign up for transportation and/or food items to bring. For a Map/Directions to Grace Park, Click Here.

POLO Albuquerque Museum Trip

POLO (People of Leisure and Others) is going to the Albuquerque Museum on Thursday, June 23, joining one of the regular tours at 2:00 PM. The cost of admission to the museum is $2 for seniors, $3 for others.

Anyone interested in having lunch beforehand, there are many restaurants in Old Town. Several people will go to the Church Street Cafe (2111 Church Street NW) around 11:30 AM. We will not make a reservation, rather sit in small groups in the restaurant. Please join us!

Please be at the museum by 1:45 PM if you want to go on a tour with the POLO group. If you have any questions, please call Barbara Stanfield (275-8551).

Get S.M.A.R.T.

Our annual Summer Music, Art, Rhythm, and Theater (SMART) Camp is July 18-22. The camp is for rising 1st—6th Graders, and is open to the community.

The camp will run from 9:00 AM—1:00 PM (aftercare is available for a small additional fee; pre-registration is required). During the day, the children will follow a rotating schedule of sessions in various musical activities, including vocal, instrumental, creative movement, drama, and art.

Register early—reduced rates end June 20th! Enrollment is limited and camp fills up quickly. Register Online Here or use one of the screaming orange registration forms found in the Hospitality Centers.

Roadrunner Workday

Let's get together for another work session at Roadrunner Food Bank on Friday, June 24th, from 9:00 AM—11:00 AM. We'll gather as a group in the lobby of Roadrunner Food Bank (5840 Office Blvd. NE) at 8:50 AM, to await our work assignment.

Please note that some lifting, walking, and standing are usually required. School-age children are welcome, but must be accompanied by an adult.

Please use the sign-up sheet in the Hospitality Center to indicate the number of children and adults attending, and please take a copy of the simple "guidelines" set forth by Roadrunner.

Casa Esperanza

We will be at Casa Esperanza on Tuesday, June 28th.

The residents at Casa Esperanza have been very gracious and thankful about the meals that have been provided. I am also extremely grateful for all the support received.

Jazz Vespers CD

We're thrilled to announce the release of the St. John's Jazz Vespers Band's new CD, "Seasons in Jazz, Seasons of the Church." The professional recording features pianist Robert Lah, vocalists Dianna Hughes and Cammy Cook, guitarist Michael Anthony, bassist John Blackburn, and drummer Jay Blea!

CDs are available in the Welcome Center on Sunday mornings and in the church office during the week. They are $20, and the proceeds go to Albuquerque Healthcare for the Homeless. Make checks out to St. John's UMC.

Our Ministries

Adult Ministries
St. John's offers a large number of opportunities for Adults to get involved with the church.
Youth Ministries
The youth ministry programs at St. John's are tailored specifically for both Senior High and Mid-High School students. Our goal for all of these programs is to encourage and guide our youth to become faithful diciples of Jesus.
Child & Family Ministries
St. John's United Methodist Church has an oustanding and full children's program. In addition to Sunday School, St. John's offers a variety of music, sports, scouting, and other group activities for children in a nurturing, encouraging, and caring Christian envirionment.
