Events Happening This Week
(October 27 - November 2):

Wednesday Night Live - Why not let Chef Tim and the kitchen staff cook for you and your family mid-week? Wednesday Night Live Dinners continue every Wednesday in the Family Life Center from 5:00 PM—6:15 PM. The main course this week will be Chicken Fried Steak. Each Wednesday dinner has an option for the kids, or Little Lambs, as we call them as well—this week will be Corn Dogs. The cost for adults is $10, children (ages 12-17) are $5, children (ages 6-11) are $2, and children under 6 eat for FREE. What a deal! The meal is open to everyone, whether you are partaking of one of the great classes or not. See you and your family there! For more information on WNL classes and future menus, visit the Wednesday Night Live Page of this website.

Preparing for Advent Course - Adam Hamilton's "The Journey, Walking the Road to Bethlehem," is being taught by Jack & Carol Nuzum. The course runs Wednesdays, from 6:00 PM—7:00 PM, October 22nd—November 19th. We will travel with Hamilton as he journeys from Nazareth to Bethlehem, reliving the events that led to the birth of Jesus. No need to register in advance, and you are welcome to come any week. Join us as we prepare our hearts for Advent by, literally, walking the road Joseph & Mary took while reflecting together upon the events that led to the coming of the Christ child.

Kids' Bible Club is Back! - Kids' Bible Club is back! We'll play games, sing, perform skits, and learn, learn, learn about the Bible! Ages 3 and up are welcome to attend. We'll meet in Room 240 at 6:00 PM (6:15 PM if you're in NewSound) every Wednesday during WNL. Come early for dinner at 5:00 PM in the FLC.

NewSound Children's Choir - Children who participate in NewSound Choirs have fun singing, playing instruments, and developing their musical skills. Children learn that singing is both fun and an act of worship. NewSound is for kids age 4 (as of Sept. 1, 2014) through 5th grade. For more information and on-line registration, please visit the NewSound Children's Music Ministry Website. Rehearsals are Wednesday afternoons from 5:30 PM – 6:15 PM in the upstairs education wing. We welcome new members throughout the year, so please join us!

St. John's Bach Project Concert - Please join us for the St. John's Bach Project on Saturday, November 1st, at 5:00 PM conducted by Matthew Greer. We will feature 2 solo cantatas: BWV 54 with mezzo soprano Jacque Zander-Wall and BWV 209 with soprano Ingela Onstad and flute soloist Jessie Tatum. Violinist Roberta Arruda will perform J.S. Bach's Partita No. 3 BWV1006 for Solo Violin. There is no admission charge, through a free-will offering will be gratefully accepted. Complimentary childcare will be provided.

Blood Drive - The Bloodmobile will be here at St. John's on Sunday, November 2nd. Please consider donating blood at this time. If you have any questions, please call Linn & Mike Furnish at 884-6626.

First Sunday Lunch - What time is it? It's turkey time! (…and there was much rejoicing.) Sunday, November 2nd, will be our bi-annual Slow Roasted Turkey with All the Fixin's First Sunday Lunch. Bring a friend, and come to the Family Life Center between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM to enjoy fun and fellowship. The complete meal, including drink and dessert, is just $10 for adults, $5 for 12-17 years old, $2 for 6-11 years old, and FREE for those under 6 years old. The money we receive for the meal goes beyond just paying for the cost of the ingredients and labor; money you give to the Food Ministry is spread out over the year to help defray costs for small budget events, such as Project Share every other month, and fundraisers. So we thank you for your support! See you in November!
