An Appeal from The Rock at NoonDay in Albuquerque

We have seen an alarming increase in the number of women and children seeking help, highlighting a critical gap in the services available to them. Women and children are among the most vulnerable on the streets, facing dangers that are both heartbreaking and unacceptable. Reports indicate that out of every five women, three have been assaulted or abused. This statistic is particularly distressing given that we see over 100 women with children each week. Each of these women carries a story of pain and resilience; our mission is to offer them hope and a path to healing. To better understand the situation, we surveyed six local agencies that work with women facing homelessness, fleeing domestic violence, and escaping human and sex trafficking. The findings were clear: these agencies are overwhelmed and lack the space to meet the growing demand. We plan to build a dedicated women's center within our facility. This center will provide immediate access to counselors and essential services without a waiting list, ensuring that those in need receive timely and compassionate care. The new women's center will be a sanctuary offering:

· Showers and Laundry Facilities: Restoring dignity and comfort through essential hygiene services.

· An Educational Room: Empowering women with resources and support to overcome homelessness and prepare for transitional living opportunities.

· A Lounge for Resting During the Day: Creating a safe and welcoming space where women and children can respite from their daily hardships.

We aim to create a haven where women and children can find the support they need to rebuild their lives. This center will be a place of hope and healing, helping them to move forward and thrive. By offering these essential services, we meet immediate needs and empower women to achieve lasting change. We invite you to learn more about this vital project at our Vision Dinner on September 13, 2024, from 6-8 p.m. at The Rock at Noonday. This dinner aims to provide detailed information about our new initiatives and encourage support from our donors and friends. We are currently at $360,000 of our $400,000 goal to begin the project in January–February 2025. With your help, we can complete the project by spring and create a safe and nurturing environment for women and children in desperate need of care.

Please RSVP no later than September 6th to engage@therockabq.com
