I wanted to thank everyone who participated in or supported our July 2024 Youth Mission Trip. It was a treat to get to travel with the youth to Baldwin, Louisiana where they volunteered with the United Methodist Committee On Relief (UMCOR). During their week, the youth packed approximately 5,300 school kits and 4,500 hygiene kits that will be sent to people in need around the world. They also volunteered in the local community in Southern Louisiana, singing at a local nursing home, cleaning apartments for low-income seniors, building a platform and stairs for the entry to a local residence, organizing at a charity thrift shop, and much more. I am also happy to report that we did have one close, but not too-close, encounter with an alligator. You can ask the youth about that one!
A particularly big thank you to our adults who traveled and supported the team on the trip including Mandy Burke, Melanie and Paul Dodd, Carrie Eaton, Jennifer Edwards, Jason Mauck, Jennifer Shields, and in particular, Brett Reece our youth director. They made a great team and were encouraging and insightful with the youth.
We are planning to share more about the trip at August 18th's Youth & Children's Sunday service. But for now, thank you to everyone who supported the youth, attended fundraisers, and collected kits and supplies for UMCOR. You were a part of the mission work through your efforts. Watch the video below to see our update from Louisiana.
Thanks again!
